What’s New And Queer In Streaming This July 2025

Need something to watch? Add these 2SLGBTQI+ shows and films to your list this July

Summer is busy, but if you have some downtime there are a bunch of new shows with queer storylines and performers we’d recommend.

While heatwaves and dry spells can come with the summer season, there is no need to worry about a Drag Race drought. Drag Race France All Stars premieres bringing back queens from the past three seasons for a second shot at the crown – or the third for Soa de Muse. Other reality TV options include season 21 of Project Runway and season 11 of The Amazing Race Canada.

July also marks the beginning of the end for some popular shows. The staff of Las Colinas bids farewell as Apple TV+ debuts the final season of Acapulco; Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman will end with two parts on Netflix; and summer wraps up on Prime Video with the third season of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

In case you missed, all episodes of Alexander Skarsgård’s Murderbot will be available to watch all at once after the first season ends on July 11. The series features Canada’s Tattiawna Jones, who we interviewed for the July/August issue of the magazine.

Here are 14 titles that we recommend streaming in July.

APPLE TV+

July 11 MURDERBOT

Based on the Martha Wells book series The Murderbot Diaries, the show follows a rogue security android named Murderbot (Alexander Skarsgård) who secretly gains free will. To stay hidden, it joins a new mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet…even though it just wants to binge soap operas. All episodes streaming.

July 30 ACAPULCO

In its fourth and final season, present day Máximo (Eugenio Derbez) works tirelessly to restore Las Colinas to its former glory before the grand reopening. In 1986, when a competitor claims the number one spot on the annual ranking of Acapulco’s “Best Hotels,” young Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) will do whatever it takes to get back on top and secure Las Colinas’ future. Episodes stream weekly.

BRITBOX

July 30 A VERY ENGLISH SCANDAL

Adapted from John Preston’s book A Very English Scandal: Sex, Lies and a Murder Plot at the Heart of the Establishment, the series stars Hugh Grant (Love Actually) as Jeremy Thorpe and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) as Norman Scott. A Very English Scandal is the shocking true story of the first British politician to stand trial for conspiracy to murder. In the 1960s, homosexuality was just decriminalized and Jeremy Thorpe, the youngest leader of any British political party in a hundred years, has a secret he’s desperate to hide. As long as his ex-lover, Norman Scott, is around, Thorpe’s brilliant career is at risk. Eventually Thorpe can see only one way to silence Scott for good. Episodes stream weekly.

CBC GEM

July 5 SOMETHING YOU SAID LAST NIGHT

This film centres on Ren, an aspiring writer and mid-twenty-something, who accompanies her parents and her younger sister on a beach resort holiday in cottage country. As Ren navigates the resort, she struggles to cope with her parents’ loving yet overbearing nature, and tries to balance the yearning for independence with the comfort of being taken care of. The realities of being a stunted millennial and a trans woman coalesce in Ren not wanting to be perceived as a burden. Yet looming in the back of Ren’s mind is the secret of her recent dismissal from work, and that once the holiday is over, she will need to rely even more on her family’s support.

CRAVE

July 3 – SUCH BRAVE GIRLS

The BAFTA-winning series follows Josie (Kat Sadler), her sister, Billie (Lizzie Davidson), and their mother, Deb (Louise Brealey) as they risk everything they’ve got for a single scrap of love and adoration.
