J.K. Rowling Says That She’d “Happily” Do Time, Rather Than Accept Trans People

J.K. Rowling continues to remind us that she’s the absolute worst…

J.K. Rowling is voicing her negative views about transgender women yet again. This time the controversial Harry Potter author and proud transmisogynist claimed that she would “happily” serve jail time for her anti-trans views.

Rowling bluntly dismissed the transgender community earlier this week on X (formerly Twitter) when she posted a photo of a message — “Repeat after us: Trans Women are Women” — that was projected onto the offices of the British Ministry of Justice.

“No,” Rowling bluntly wrote before expounding further in a thread.

“I’ll happily do two years if the alternative is compelled speech and forced denial of the reality and importance of sex,” Rowling continued on X. “Bring on the court case, I say. It’ll be more fun than I’ve ever had on a red carpet.”

Rowling has a long history of posting transphobic rhetoric online. She first sparked controversy back in 2017 when she liked a tweet that condemned trans rights, and ever since has continued posting transphobic rhetoric online. She defended herself — and doubled down on her views — in a lengthy essay in 2020, and has continued to dismiss any concern that she has lost fans or the respect of past collaborators because of her continuous controversial comments.

“Deeply amused by those telling me I’ve lost their admiration due to the disrespect I show violent, duplicitous rapists,” she wrote on social media in January. “I shall file your lost admiration carefully in the box where I keep my missing f–ks.”

Rowling’s latest comments come just weeks after British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak claimed during a speech that people “shouldn’t be bullied” into recognizing trans people’s gender identities. The UK’s Home Office announced earlier this month that the country’s 11% rise in anti-trans hate crimes between 2022 and March 2023 “may have been fueled” by commentary from politicians on transness, with conservative politicians in the UK taking a lead from US conservative politicians and becoming increasingly obsessed with trans people as a talking point.
