The happiest place on Earth just got a little more inclusive…
Disney has been steadily increasing its representation of the LGBTQ community in television (see: Andi Mack: Watch Disney Channel’s First Ever Coming Out Scene) and film (see: Frozen’s Elsa Could Be The First Disney Princess With A Girlfriend), and now they are taking the next step and helping Disney fans show off their Pride.
Earlier this month Disney debuted rainbow-coloured, Pride-inspired Mickey Mouse ears at both California’s Disneyland and the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando, Florida. That’s right… Mickey Mouse Pride ears just in time for Pride month in June!
Of course, images of the rainbow ears, officially known as the “Mickey Mouse Rainbow Love” hat, are already popping up across social media.
However, the ears are not currently available for sale on the official Disneyland or Walt Disney World websites.
When asked for comment on the ears, a Disney spokesperson told HuffPost, “We offer a wide range of merchandise items that appeal to guests of diverse backgrounds.”
