The First Ever Big Screen ‘Drag Race’ Film Now Has An Official Title & Release Date

Get ready Drag Race fans because Stop! That! Train! will be released in theatres across North America next spring…

In September, World of Wonder announced that the Drag Race universe would expand with an unhinged, action-comedy movie that would be directed by Hairspray’s Adam Shankman. The highly anticipated film now has an official release date and an official title: Stop! That! Train! will be released in theatres across North America on May 29, 2026.

Stop! That! Train! will star RuPaul as President Gagwell alongside Drag Race alum from as far back as season two and as recent as season 15. All Stars 10 winner Ginger Minj and Drag Race icon Jujubee star as best friends and train attendees Tess and DeeDee, while Drag Race season 13 winner Symone, Canada’s Drag Race host Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Drag Race season 15’s Marcia Marcia Marcia will play snotty first class attendants on the Glamazonia Express. All Stars 4 winner Monet X Change and season 4 fan favourite Latrice Royale will also star in the film.

Stop! That! Train! follows best friends and train stewardesses Tess and DeeDee who trade their dreary shifts on the Stank Rail for the glitzy Glamazonian Express. When ‘Stormganza’ threatens to derail the high-speed train into Los Angeles, the duo in coach must join forces with the snobby first class attendants, and President Gagwell, to save the day. The film, by its description, is giving Airplane meets Speed meets Snowpiercer meets Bullet Train. Fun, right?

Filming on the blockbuster wrapped earlier this month, Deadline reports.

“I’ve had the greatest time shooting Stop! That! Train!! with some of the most hilarious and game people out there, and we can’t wait to bring it to audiences nationwide next May,” said Shankman. “I know I’ve needed to laugh now more than ever, and if you’re not howling during this one, I’m pretty sure you’re made of coal and possibly a descendant of the Grinch family!”

Aside from Shankman directing, Connor Wright and Christina Friel wrote the feature film. Both wrote the holiday drag film The Bitch Who Stole Christmas and are current writers on the animated series Grimsburg. Stop! That! Train!! will be their first theatrical release.
