Drag icon and superstar RuPaul will perform a DJ set at the annual electronic music festival this September…
Another edition of Fierté Montréal has wrapped, but next month the city will be graced with an appearance by the Queen of Drag. On September 13, drag icon RuPaul will perform a DJ set at Montréal’s OfF Piknic music festival, a spin-off of Piknic Électronik.
“You know the name…but if you’ve never seen RuPaul behind the deck, now’s the time,” festival organizers said on Instagram. It goes on to tease “guaranteed good vibes” with RuPaul dropping dance, pop, house and disco in Parc Jean-Drapeau. Tickets are on sale now and start at $52.50.
Fans of Mama Ru were quick to share their excitement on the festival’s Instagram post with Canada’s Drag Race winner Gisèle Lullaby saying “OMG!!! Mama Ru will be in town!” Season four finalist Denim, simply commented with “I’m OBSESSED.”
Last week, RuPaul posted a clip of them DJing on TikTok to announce two sets in Texas. “Come hear me DJ. We will have a good time Texas,” said the legendary drag queen in an ad to promote the shows. We expect that same energy to be replicated in Canada with RuPaul giving us a shot of adrenaline.
Who is performing at OfF Piknic?
OfF Picnik is described as highlighting “the whole realm of the electronic scene.” The event takes place from August to October, going from the late afternoon to dusk on Friday and Saturday.
