Off-Mute is a new series premiering on Fido’s IGTV channel. It promises to show off a diverse intersection of independent Canadian musical artists as they sit down for conversations about art, expression, influences and the industry. Each episode features two artists interviewing each other one-on-one, and the results are intriguing conversations punctuated by powerful solo performances. The lineup is a real who’s who of Polaris and Juno award winners and nominees, including Jeremy Dutcher, Elisapie, and Shay Lia.

The first episode is available now on IGTV @FidoMobile and features Witch Prophet and the Grammy-nominated Lido Pimienta. The two friends get into subject matter ranging from what it takes to make great art to the unique challenges of being BIPOC and queer in the Canadian music industry as well as staying true to yourself in your creative process.

The performances are captivating and, when paired with the conversation, pick up a special emotional depth. Really, you could close your eyes and listen to the whole thing almost like a podcast and playlist in one, but you’ll want to keep your eyes open for the action, the outfits, and the expressions that make Off-Mute particularly intimate and human.
