Watch: Gillette's New Ad Features A Dad Teaching His Trans Son How To Shave

The beautiful ad’s tagline is “Whenever, wherever, however it happens — your first shave is special”…

Gillette has released a heartwarming new advertisement featuring a young trans man shaving for the first time as his father looks on with pride.

Gillette’s First Shave video is part of the brand’s new #MyBestSelf campaign and features Samson Bonkeabantu Brown, a young trans teen from Canada. In the ad, which was originally posted to the brand’s Facebook page, Brown says: “Growing up I was always trying to figure out what kind of man I want to become and I’m still trying to figure out what kind that I want to become.”

The young man then receives encouragement and advice from his father as he shaves for the first time.

“Now don’t be scared. Shaving is about being confident. You are doing fine.”

Brown finishes off the ad saying, “It’s not just myself transitioning. It’s everyone around me transitioning.”

“My dad always told me that whatever I do, I should be the best at it; and I wanted to be a part of this campaign because Gillette is encouraging everyone to be their best, just like my dad for me,” the artist and trans advocate said following the release of the ad. “My dad’s encouragement came from a place of love and gave me the confidence to express my true authentic self.”
