This Is When You Can Read The Final Volume of ‘Heartstopper’

Fans of Charlie and Nick will say goodbye on July 7, 2026 as Alice Oseman ends the graphic novel series…

It’s a bittersweet farewell for Heartstopper fans as the final volume of the graphic novel now has a release date. Author Alice Oseman revealed on Instagram that on July 7, 2026 North American fans will be able to read Heartstopper Volume 6. “Almost time to say goodbye to Heartstopper…” Oseman wrote in the post.

While the text for the graphic novel is seemingly written, the author now needs to complete the illustrations. “Still drawing it right now and having a great time!!! But I will be very sad when it’s over 🥲” The author provided a glimpse of what readers can expect in the Instagram post. In the preview, they share an image of Nick and Charlie holding hands in front of their classmates with a zoomed in image of their hands above.

According to a synopsis “In Heartstopper Volume 6, everyone in school knows Nick and Charlie. Everyone knows they’re going to be together forever. But Charlie’s busy with his bid to become head boy. And while Nick is preparing to leave for college, he’s starting to wonder who he’ll be… without Charlie.”

Fans reacted to the announcement expressing their excitement, but also their sadness. “Saying goodbye is gonna be heartstoppingly devastating,” wrote TikTok creator Mr. Thomas English.

BookTok creator Fictional Fates commented on the post saying “I can’t wait. Like I want it, but I’m not ready for it to be over??”

With the Netflix finale movie coming out next year as well, it’s going to be an emotional year for fans.

What is the history of the Heartstopper graphic novels?

Originally, Oseman crowd-funded a limited self-published print run of their online comic in 2018, managing to hit the funding target within two hours. The first volume of Heartstopper was published in early of 2019 followed by the second volume in the summer. Volume 3 was released in February 2020 and Volume 4 in May 2021. Fans waited over two years for Volume 5 which was released at the end of 2023.

A companion book, titled Heartstopper Yearbook, was published in October of 2022. There were also a series of novellas featuring characters from the graphic novels dating back to 2014.

When will the Heartstopper movie come out?

At the end of July 2025, the Heartstopper cast posted a series of social media tributes to the show marking the wrap of production.

While no official release date has been announced, Heartstopper Forever will come out sometime in 2026. According to Netflix’s Tudum, the film will pick up after season three. In it, Nick (Kit Connor) prepares to leave for university, while Charlie (Joe Locke) finds a new independence at school. The pair will face the reality of a long-distance relationship, which begins to weigh on them.

“The movie will be an exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives,” Oseman told Tudum

You can now preorder Heartstopper Volume 6.
