This year’s dress code was “Tailored for You” and your favourite queer celebrities didn’t disappoint…
The first Monday of May is like Christmas for fashion lovers with the annual Met Gala. Dubbed “fashion’s biggest night out,” this year’s event didn’t disappoint, bringing bold fashion choices that dazzled the carpet.
The dress code was “Tailored for You” in honour of the Costume Institute’s new exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibit, on until October, explores the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.
Alongside Anna Wintour, this year’s co-chairs included Colman Domingo, Sir Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams with honorary chair LeBron James.
Several 2SLGBTQI+ actors, singers and models walked the blue carpet last night. Grammy winners Chappell Roan, who embraced her inner Pink Pony Club with a sparkling suit by Academy Award winning Wicked costume designer Paul Tazewell, and Doechii both made their gala debuts. Colman Domingo had a reveal moment and Tony nominee Cole Escola popped with bright colours, while Janelle Monáe had us clocking her stunning look.
We’ve gathered some of the looks from last night below. Which queer personality had your favourite outfit? Did we miss one? Let us know.
