RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 10 Episode 4: Eight Ball

The second bracket begins with six new queens in the werk room. Susanne Bartsch is a guest judge…

Last week, after the iconic makeover challenge, we found out that Bosco, Irene the Alien, and Aja are all headed to the semi-finals after it was revealed they had the most points out of the queens from the first bracket. The game isn’t over for Olivia, Phoenix, and Deja, though. They’ll have a chance to be voted into the final lip sync with a wildcard pick from the judges. This week six new fresh faces enter the werk room to kick off the second bracket, and they’re throwing a ball. Let’s get into it.

This week’s episode begins back on the main stage with Ru and Michelle as newscasters introducing the queens after a shady weather update from Ts Madison. The first queen out is Tina Burner (Season 13), and she’s ready to smoke the tournament, surprisingly in a grey gown. Next out is Kerri Colby (Season 14) bringing high fashion, and trans excellence with every step she takes, but will she be able to get funny and ugly this time around? Next in is Nicole Paige Brooks, all the way from Atlanta, and Season 2. Her original experience on the show was short, so she’s come back with something to prove 16 years later. Mistress Isabelle Brooks (Season 15) is next on the runway and she’s ready to continue her sickening, and shady gameplay. Lydia B. Kollins, fresh from the most recent season, hopes to be more confident this time around. Finally, the last queen in the second bracket is Jorgeous (Season 14, All Stars 9). She surprised herself with how funny she was last time around, so she hopes to keep the momentum up since she feels grown.

The six queens gather on the main stage while Ru breaks down the rules of the brackets, the point system, and the MVQ bonus points. Ru tells the queens they’ll be throwing an eight ball! They’ll need to make one high fashion look, but they’ll need to incorporate all eight items that are inside eight balls that will be given to them. Back in the werk room, the bracket two queens to set up their stations and get to know each other. Mistress recognizes Lydia from the season 17 roast and says she knows she has to get her back. Tina and Mistress had some unserious shade thrown online, and Tina knows she will be a fierce competitor. Mistress and Nicole share a last name, though not related, Nicole thinks it’s a good enough reason to form an alliance. Jorgeous and Kerri kiki in the corner and Mistress joins them as Texas girls, Mistress wants to form an alliance with everyone, so it would make sense for her to join. Lydia and Tina have their own thing going on in another corner.

After they get out of drag, the pit crew brings in six giant eight balls, one for each queen. Inside are a bunch of materials and items, and all of them have to be visible on the garment. Lydia reveals that she made every single runway looks for her season and all of the other queens are immediately feeling threatened. Nicole and Kerri jokingly fight over who will have Mistress in their alliance, but Mistress is fully going to play both sides. Ru interrupts to see what they’ve been working on, and one by one, the queens present their plans.

They get back to work and since Nicole is the only queen from the old era of the show, and feels like she might be underestimated. Lydia and Tina help each other with some sewing techniques and things get a little flirty, but Lydia is still committed to her blossoming relationship with Kori King, so she’s keeping it cute, but respectful. It’s taking Mistress a little longer to make her corset from scratch but looking around the room, she’s still feeling confident.

It’s elimination day and Jorgeous is feeling good about her look. They assume their spots in front of the mirror. Lydia asks Mistress if she can be adopted as her drag mother if she does well in the challenge today, but Mistress doesn’t know if she’s mean enough to take her on. Shade is thrown between Tina and Mistress and it’s way too early for this type of an argument, but that just means the competition is ON. Out on the main stage, Ru introduces this week’s panel of judges, Michelle, Ts, and this week’s extra special guest judge nightlife icon, Susanne Bartsch. The category on the runway is “Eight Ball Eleganza” and the queens strut in their handmade looks, and some are definitely better than others.

Critiques begin with Jorgeous. She starts by pointing out all eight items, and all of the judges like her look and say it compliments her features well. Ts loves Kerri’s bra top and Michelle loves how well she sold a hot glued costume. Lydia is next and after pointing out her items, all the judges agree that she did a really good job constructing the garment. Mistress talks the judges through her look and Michelle loves her gorgeous craftsmanship on the animal print gown, and the other judges agree. Next, the judges give Nicole some tips and tricks about how to get her drag up to the same level as the other girls. Finally, Tina impresses the judges with her impeccably designed trouser and coat combo.

Following the deliberations, the queens head back out to the main stage and Ru announces the top two queens of the week are Tina and Lydia, with Mistress following right behind them in the third top spot. The two tops lip sync for that extra point to Love Sensation by Loleatta Holloway. Both queens give their personal style to the performance, but it’s Lydia B. Kollins who takes the first win in this bracket. Before the episode ends, Ru explains how the four bonus points will be distributed, which leaves the queens a little gagged.

Next week on All StarsThe queens give their points away and host a rapping roast with pop star Chappell Roan guest judging.
