RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 10 Episode 2: Murder on the Dance Floor

The bracket one queens get dramatic with a murder mystery acting challenge. Actor Colman Domingo is a guest judge…

In the premiere episode, we were reintroduced to six queens from previous seasons. These six queens make up our first bracket, and they’ll compete for six more episodes against each other collecting points until three of them move onto the semifinals. In the last episode Irene and Aja lip synced for that final point as the best of the week with Aja taking the win. This week, the bottom four will distribute their extra points accordingly, and they’ll take on a new challenge. Let’s jump in.

Episode two begins back in the werk room where the four bottom queens met with couches and four-point badges. They talk about what M.V.Q means to them. Strategy and relationships will come into play when it comes to the points. They talk about each giving a point to each other to keep it fair, but Olivia talks about giving her point to Aja to keep it away from another competitor. Aja and Irene enter with their new badges and join the pin discussion. Bosco reveals her point is going to Phoenix because she wants to see more of her, and Phoenix reciprocates. Deja gives her pin to Olivia, and Olivia gives her point to Deja. Now every queen has a point on the board. With the point distribution over, the queens get out of drag and get ready for the next challenge.

It’s a new day in the werk room and the queens are ready to get more points on their scorecards. Around the table they talk about how everyone has a point. Irene runs her mouth a little bit, but Aja respects her this time around. Bosco thinks she did a good job last week and is excited to give this week’s challenge another go. Ru appears in a video to let them know cruising is the new winning before entering the werk room. This week, for the mini challenge they’re playing “front rolls?” where they’ll roll softballs up the pit crew members without using their hands. Whichever pair rolls the softball from their bellybuttons to their lips the fastest wins. After some spirited competition, the winner of the mini challenge is Irene the Alien. She’s won a $2500 cash tip. For this week’s maxi challenge, the queens will all be suspects in the mystery improv Murder on the Dance Floor challenge. Without a script they’ll have to create their own characters, but anything they do or say can be used against them in critiques.

Ru leaves the queens with the character descriptions and leaves the casting up to them. Most of the queens get their first-choice roles, and they move on. Aja and Irene surprisingly grow closer but Aja is feeling a little nervous about the improv challenge. The queens work on their own to build their characters and prepare for the challenge. Phoenix wants to enjoy the challenge this week and vows to let go. Improv is in Deja’s skillset but she’s feeling anxious about flirting with Ru in character. Irene has a theatre BFA, so she’s feeling good heading into this challenge. Bosco and Olivia get into a playful argument over their fake accents, which turns into more of a real fight which is giving Bosco bad deja vu from her season. Aja tries to bring the girls together but Olvia is determined to stand up for herself this time around.

Out on the stage Ru is in his detective character and joins Carson, Michelle, and the rest of the queens in the improv challenge. Each of the queens have a one-on-one scene with Ru, which is their chance to shine individually. Each of them does well enough in their interrogation scenes, but some are quicker than others with their delivery. In the end the murderer was…Michelle.

Back in the werk room, most of the queens are all feeling good about their performances. Aja and Irene form an alliance thinking nobody will want to help them since they’re already in the lead. Deja feels like she bombed her performance and Phoenix tries to help her work through the bad place she’s in. Bosco and Olivia have made up from their earlier fight, and Olivia chats with Aja about where her points are going and Aja is keeping her cards close to her chest which rattles Olivia.

Out on the mainstage, Ru introduces this week’s panel of judges Michelle, Carson, and this week’s extra special guest, actor Colman Domingo. The category on the runway is “Coming and Going” and the queens strut in looks that look different from the front than they do from the back.

Critiques start with Olivia. Carson loves her spectacular runway look. Michelle tells her it was fun seeing her in a different character but she could have pushed it further, and Colman giv4s her some acting tips. Carson tells Irene her performance was delightful to watch, and all of the judges agree. Michelle loves her politically charged runway look. Colman calls Bosco’s character extraordinary, and Michelle adores watching her in the challenge. Ru loves her Elvira-inspired runway look. Carson tells Deja she did a great job listening in her improv scene which allowed her to connect with Ru in the scene, and Ru said she had a bunch of fun with her while filming. Michelle calls Phoenix a Joy to watch and it was really nice seeing her let go. Colman gives her tips to go further in the next acting challenge and Carson tells her the front of her outfit more than the back. Phoenix tearfully tributes her “stormy weather” look to her sister, whom she lost to Covid. Finally, Michelle tells Aja there’s a lot of stuff going on in her look but it works. Carson tells her she brought a lot of good energy to the group scenes but she could have done more in her one-on-one.

After critiques Ru announces the top two All Stars of the week are Irene and Bosco, who have each won two points. The top two queens lip sync for the extra point to “Murder On The Dancefloor” by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. Both queens use the movement of their outfits to their advantage, with Bosco finishing with a sickening reveal. Ru decides that the top queen of the week is Bosco, who will get the extra point and the $10,000 cash tip. The four bottom queens each have one point to give away, which we’ll see next week. The episode ends with a tally of each queen’s points. Bosco and Irene are currently tied for first place.

Next time on All StarsPoints are shaken up and the queens give makeovers to women’s basketball stars in the final episode of the first bracket.
