The White Lotus actress is a little obsessed with the 2SLGBTQI+ community, and we’re here for it…
Actress Jennifer Coolidge is seriously obsessed with the gays – even if they tried to kill her character on The White Lotus.
At Emerson College’s graduation ceremony this past weekend, Coolidge delivered the commencement address for the class of 2025. The actress attended the Boston school for performing arts, but dropped out and headed to Hollywood before completing her degree.
In the heartfelt and hilarious speech, she spoke about her childhood, scary dolls, how she’s kind of into the smell of stale hockey pads, her dream of becoming the queen of Monaco and more. She encouraged the class to chase their dreams saying, “When you find the thing that you want to do, I really want to highly recommend, just friggin’ go for it…You really have to psych yourself up into believing absurd possibilities, and you have to believe that they are not absurd.”
With laughs and applause throughout the speech, the loudest moment may have been when Coolidge said, “I’m excited that I’m speaking with some very excited gay students.” She finished her thought by adding “…and some less excited hetero students and hopefully some very eligible widowers.”
Coolidge has expressed her love for the 2SLGBTQI+ community time and time again in interviews and speeches, where she weaves inspiring messages with her famed comedic flair.
The Emmy-winning star was recently snapped at the grand opening of The Tryst, a luxury gay boutique hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Her Instagram has photos of her with Julia Fox on the red carpet, hanging out with Demi Lovato and a recording of Shea Couleé performing.
On the red carpet for the hotel’s opening, she told People Magazine that she loves how gay men and women just let loose. “They’re really original, you know? They’re, I don’t know, just a superior group of people. I can’t get enough of this, frankly,” she told them.
At the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards, she noted how much respect she had for the community and thanked them for always being there. She went on to say “I believe that we all have the right to be who we are and to love the people that we love and tell our stories and celebrate that in every way that we can…. I just want to thank you all for being you and inspiring me.”
