The remaining queens design looks based off of vintage Betsey Johnson looks. The designer is a guest judge…
Last week we said goodbye to queen Acacia Forgot after landing in the bottom along with Kori King during this season’s Rusical challenge. Sam Star took the top spot for the week after her Cher-inspired Wicked Witch of the East wowed all of the judges. This week, the queens will dust off their sewing machines and hot glue guns for another fashion challenge recreating looks from an iconic designer. Let’s get into it.
This week’s episode begins in the werk room following Acacia’s elimination. Kori feels a little sad with Acacia’s departure but she knew she wasn’t going home. Kori is safe to fight another day and after cleaning Acacia’s message in the mirror, all of the queens head over to the couches. Everyone congratulates Sam on her second win and Sam gives a whole pageant thank you speech. Sam joins Onya and Suzie as queens with multiple wins and the other queens are starting to scramble with wanting their own time in the top spot.
It’s a new day in the werk room and the top nine queens are feeling ready for a new challenge. Around the red table Onya asks which one of the non-winners who is going to win this week. Ru interrupts and tells the queens that for this week’s mini challenge, the library is officially open. The pit crew brings in a pair of Party City reading glasses and they’re off. Some of the girls really come for their sisters and get some laughs from Ru, and cue the cricket sounds for some of the others. Ru announces the winner of this week’s mini challenge is Suzie Toot, which she believes is finally getting her flowers for Snatch Game.

Ru then tells the queens that for this week’s maxi challenge they will be paying tribute to 60 years of Betsey Johnson’s iconic designs. They’ll have to make their own look from scratch based on three of Betsey’s most famous collections.
Since Suzie won the challenge she gets to pick her category first. Each category gets three queens. Lydia picks Lexi which gags Kori. Once all of the queens are in their categories they get right to work designing their looks for the runway. Arrietty already has a design challenge win under her belt, so she’s feeling confident about whatever she’s working with. They work in their trios and Lexi is struggling to begin which only becomes worse once she realizes that everyone else has already gotten started. Sam tries to diffuse the situation by talking it out. Lexi has been safe for all of the design challenges, but the pressure of wanting to impress the judges is stressing her out. Sam helps her organize her thoughts, and gets Lexi on her way with a showstopping bridal look.
Ru makes his way back into the werk room to check on the queens with special guest Betsey Johnson to give them some tips and guidance with their designs. They talk to Betsey in their collection trios and she gets to see how each of them plan to incorporate her aesthetic into their own designs. After Betsey and Ru leave the queens get back to bringing their designs to life. Kori has decided to switch up her dress after Ru called her original design out for being too similar to her yellow dress. Sam helps a few of the other queens including Lydia, who creates based on feeling, so she has no real idea what she’s making. Onya is going big with her bow embellishments but she keeps burning herself while hot gluing them to her dress. Disaster strikes when Jewels realizes she’s sewed one side of her velvet dress in the wrong direction, resulting in a two-tone look.

It’s elimination day and Arrietty is feeling great about her look. Lexi is also feeling optimistic about her bridal look. Lana is excited that she finally gets to go to prom in her look after Covid cancelled hers in real life. Lexi and Sam share a sweet moment by the mirrors when Sam tells her how proud she is that she was able to turn out such a fierce look after her freak out. Sam does her daily love birds check in on Lydia and Kori while they put the finishing touches on their makeup and outfits.
Out on the main stage Ru introduces this week’s panel of judges Michelle, Carson, and this week’s extra special guest designer Betsey Johnson. The queens strut down the runway and the first group is Punk Grunge Flappers. Jewels, Suzie, and Lydia all strut in their slinky dresses, mismatched fabrics, and fringe. Next Kori, Onya, and Lana make it a night to remember in their Pink Prom dresses. Finally, Sam, Lexi, and Arrietty bring moody bridal to the runway with the Prenup collection. Betsey closes the runway with her iconic split.

After the fashion show, Ru asks Suzie, Lana, and Sam forward and tells them they are all safe for the week. Critiques begin with Jewels and Michelle tells her she represents the collection beautifully and the execution on her look was fantastic. Betsey tells her the look “is the collection”. Next, Michelle tells Lydia there’s an idea with her look but it’s not quite finished and the fit isn’t great, so it takes away from the look. Carson tells Kori she needed a more is more approach and Michelle tells her the finishing touches on her dress are a mess. Michelle also doesn’t love the construction of Onya’s prom dress which the other judges echo. Carson and Michelle both say Arrietty’s prenup wedding look is exquisite and Betsey calls it “couture”. Carson and Betsey both love Lexi’s cute meets sexy bridal look which Michelle and Ru also give top toots to.
Following deliberations, Ru announces that the winner of this week’s challenge is Jewels Sparkles with Lexi and Arrietty trailing behind her in second and third place. Also joining them in a safe position is Onya Nerve. This means unfortunately lovers Kori and Lydia have to lip sync for their lives against each other. The two bottom queens lip sync to “Kiss Me Deadly” by Lita Ford. This is Kori’s second week in a row lip syncing and Lydia is twirling circles around her. The lip sync finishes with a makeout which has all the judges and the rest of the queens gagged. Ru saves Lydia from elimination which means it’s Kori’s time to leave the competition.
