The remaining queens show the judges their best celebrity impersonation and comedian Steph Tolev is a guest judge…
Last week we said goodbye to Jaylene Tyme after this season’s girl group challenge. The queens travelled back in time to the ‘90s and wrote, recorded, and performed songs in a group. After landing in the bottom the week before, Makayka came out on top and bestowed the coveted golden beaver to Helena Poison, which left Xana to lip sync for her life with Jaylene. This week the queens will put their funny bones to the test when they play Snatch Game! Let’s get into it.
This week’s episode begins in the werk room following Jaylene’s elimination. Xana is feeling sad about sending Jaylene home as she reads her lipstick message on the mirror. Xana has now been in the bottom twice which has her worried. Over on the couches everybody congratulates Makayla on her win and Xana thanks her for putting her in the bottom to kick her ass into high gear. Most of the remaining queens have a win under their belt and the ones who don’t are hungry for it.
It’s a new day and everyone is feeling ready for another chance to impress the judges and win. Helena is feeling happy to still be here, and is welcomed into the Beaver Lodge. She thanks Makayla for the beaver. Xana brings up the critique Perla got on her makeup and opens the floor for everyone to critique whoever they want around the table. Ru leaves a video message before Brooke walks into the room. She tells the queens that for this week’s mini challenge the library is officially open. They will be reading each other to filth. Perla goes first and cuts the girls up a bit. Each of the queens take turns and the reads are mild at most until Helena puts the glasses on, so it’s no surprise that she takes home the prize for the mini challenge.
For this week’s main challenge they’ll have to keep their comedy hats on for The Snatch Game. They’re going to have to make Brooke and the judges laugh or else they’ll be up for elimination. Before they start preparing for Snatch Game Minhi tells the other queens their reading challenge flop has really shook her confidence for the main challenge. They’re all going to have to bring it if they want this Snatch Game to be memorable. They go through all of their options and some of them have brought solid ones, but Makayla’s choices of Oprah and Tiffany Pollard has the other queens confused.
Out on the main stage it’s time to play Snatch Game! Brooke is our host and she introduces us to our stacked celebrity cast. This year we have Helena as actress Jennifer Tilly, Makayla as Oprah, Perla as Mary-Kate Olsen, Virgo as Judge Lynn Toler, Uma as Dee Grewnig (the sponge art expert), Xana as Bettie Page, and Minhi as Chairman Mao. The game kicks off and Traci and Brad are the players. Some of the queens are trying but the jokes weren’t really landing. Minhi’s Mao gets a few laughs but Makayla’s Oprah is missing a lot of jokes. There’s nothing to volley off of, and a lot of the other queens are finding it hard to make jokes themselves. Brooke ends Snatch Game and announces the winner is Xana in the same breath which has everyone else confused. Brooke announces her cash prize and hands her a wooden beaver which she says will change everything, but she’s not announcing exactly what the power of the wooden beaver is just yet.
Back in the werk room it’s elimination day. Virgo is shaking in her boots over her Snatch Game performance. Around the tables everyone congratulates Xana, and Minhi expresses that she was shocked by her win. Xana gets a little cocky reading all of the girls which rubs some of them, especially Uma, the wrong way. Helena is nervous about Xana having the wooden beaver since she’s fearless when it comes to playing the game. In front of the makeup mirror Helena compliments Perla on her performance and they talk about where they got their sense of humour from. Xana reveals that her complicated relationship with her mother forced her to use comedy to cope. It starts to cut the friction between Xana and the other queens as it humanizes her to her competitors.
Out on the runway Brooke introduces this week’s panel of judges, Brad, Traci, and this week’s extra special guest judge comedian Steph Tolev. The category on the runway is “Alien Superstar” and the queens stun in otherworldly lewks. Following the runway, Brooke tells Xana that she thrived and she is excused from critiques, but she’s sitting beside the stage with beaver in hand. Brooke starts critiques by telling the queens that she was disappointed with the performances during Snatch Game with the lack of passion and energy. Critiques start with Uma. Brad tells her she didn’t allow herself to go with the flow and kept the sponge bit going too long which the other judges agree with. Brad tells her the outfit is whimsical and fun but not sure it’s executed well enough. Traci tells Minhi her Mao was funny and her use of props was good, too. All of the judges also love her alien party girl look. Brad tells Makayka that her characterization of Oprah was too simple and secretive, but the judges love her cosmic serve of a runway look. Brooke tells Virgo she had the hardest time volleying with her but she did have a funny moment calling Traci a hooker, but everyone is in agreement that her runway look is top tier. Brad thought Perla was very funny as Mary-Kate but she gave about 70%. The judges also love her textured dress on the runway. Brad also tells Helena her makeup is gorgeous and her Jennifer Tilly voice was great but she didn’t provide enough laughs during the Snatch Game.
Brooke tells Xana that with the wooden beaver, Xana has the power to determine the bottom. During untucked Xana will pass the beaver to one queen to mark her safe. That queen will pass it to another queen to save and so on until there are three left. Backstage everybody has to plead their case to each other. Uma says she doesn’t agree with the judges and thinks their critiques weren’t representative of the whole Snatch Game and goes on a bit of a rant. Xana asks the group to tell her why they should all stay. Each one of them gives a reason why they think they should all be passed the beaver. Xana hands the beaver to Perla, staying true to her previous word about saving her. Perla hands the beaver to Helena, who accepts it tearfully. Helena is making the last choice with her pick which determines the bottom three. Out on the main stage Helena hands the wooden beaver to Minhi just based on the critiques of the week.
This leaves Uma, Makayla, and The Virgo Quen up for elimination. The bottom three queens lip sync for their lives to Hello by Martin Solveig and Dragonette. Virgo and Uma get right to it while Makayla spends some time taking her long skirt off, but once it’s on it’s ON. All three queens are fighting to stay in the competition and this will likely not be an easy decision for the judges. Makayla and Virgo both drop into splits at the same time while Uma does her own thing on the other side of the stage. After the lip sync and a quick deliberation, Brooke announces that the queen leaving us this week is Uma Gahd. After Uma’s elimination Brooke lets the girls know that the beaver has officially gone into hibernation.
Next week on Canada’s Drag Race: The queens design a custom look for Brooke to model on the main stage, a former queen makes an appearance, and tensions rise backstage.
