In August the streets of downtown Montréal will be bustling with people, music and floats as thousands come out to participate in the annual Fierté Montréal Festival Pride Parade on Sunday, August 11, 2024. With “We Are The Rainbow” as its theme, the Pride Parade will celebrate creativity, resilience, and progress on 2SLGBTQIA+ communities’ rights and is an important part of ensuring that our ongoing demands are heard.

The 18th edition of the Fierté Montréal Festival runs from Thursday August 1 to Sunday August 11, 2024. As with previous years, this summer’s festival features plenty of live in-person performances, concerts and fun activities on the Esplanade of the Olympic Park—Montréal Pride’s main site—as well as in the LGBTQ+ Village and downtown. (There is free admission to all events on the Esplanade of the Olympic Park!)

“This year, our Festival will be organized around three hubs – Urban, Olympic, and Village – allowing us to show our pride in the diversity that unites us to a growing audience,” says Simon Gamache, Executive Director of Fierté Montréal. Chris Ngabonziza, Director of Programming and Artistic Development, adds: “Last count, our stages will present a whopping 240 artists, from a wide spectrum of sexual and gender diversity, as well as racialized communities, a true reflection of our city. We invite Montréalers, Québecers, Canadians, and tourists from all over the world to join us for an exceptional edition of the Fierté Montréal Festival.”

Montréal annual parade is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024. The parade route is 2.5 km long and begins in the former Gay Village in the downtown west end, running along René-Levesque Boulevard from Metcalfe Street to Alexandre DeSève Street in the heart of the current Village in the east.

Important reminder: There will be a Minute of Silence at 2:15pm to honour those the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities have lost to violence and AIDS.

Make sure to head there early to get a good lookout spot for the parade and please remember to bring water, sunscreen and even food to help get you through one of the biggest North American Pride Parades.
