Available starting May 15, Jean Paul Gaultier’s “Classique” and “Le Male” Pride bottles honouring the work of Keith Haring will be on shelves for a limited time…
Jean Paul Gaultier is celebrating Pride with an exciting new collaboration. The fashion house is introducing limited-edition “Classique” and “Le Male” bottles wrapped in queer artist and activist Keith Haring’s iconic “Once Upon a Time” mural. In 1990, just before he died, Haring painted the mural in a bathroom of what is now the The NYC LGBT Community Center. He created “Once Upon a Time” in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Stonewall riots that sparked the beginning of the queer liberation movement.
Maison Gaultier describes the Pride collaboration as “more than a statement. It is an emblem. A symbol. An identity. An ode to freedom, acceptance, self-confidence and the celebration of our differences.”
Of course this isn’t the first time Jean Paul Gaultier has celebrated Pride. For the last four years, the Puig-owned brand has released Pride-centric perfume bottles in honour of Pride month and the 2SLGBTQI+ community.
The scent bottle is white and features elements of Haring’s original artwork mixed with the brand’s take on pop art. The illustration on the bottles is titled “Nothing to Hide,” which the brand describes as a “joyful” version of Hering’s work. It also comes in a collector’s can that features the collaborative art work.
The fragrance is a unisex scent that mixes notes of fresh citrus, yuzu, orange, neroli blossom and musk to form a fruity, woody scent. “This exclusive limited scent is reinvented each year. Based on the signature Gaultier neroli, we colour the senses with blood orange and balance them with musky blond wood. An irresistible fragrance with no sex nor gender: simply the glory of being [proud of] who we are,” Nathalie Cetto and Quentin Bisch, perfume composers for Jean Paul Gaultier, said in a joint statement.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s Pride 2024 fragrances will be available to shop as of May 15 at jeanpaulgaultier.com and will be rolled out to retailers across the country as Pride Month approaches.
