Apple Celebrates Pride 2023 With New Watch Band, Matching Watch Face & Wallpaper

Ready to shop? Apple is set to release a brand new watch band in celebration of Pride later this month…

In celebration of Pride and in recognition of the ongoing movement to protect and advance equality for LGBTQ+ communities around the world, Apple is releasing a brand new Pride Edition Sport Band accompanied by a matching watch face and iOS wallpaper.

The new Sport Band design showcases the original pride flag rainbow colours and five others — black and brown symbolize Black and Latin communities, in addition to those who have passed away from or are living with HIV/AIDS, while light blue, pink, and white represent transgender and nonbinary individuals.

Apple says the 2023 design is a “joyful rainbow of geometric shapes on a white base, which are compression-molded into the final band.” Since the base material flows around each shape, there are small variations in layout, so no two bands are exactly alike.

The 2023 Pride Edition Sport Band is available in 41mm and 45mm sizes, and is compatible with Apple Watch Series 3 and later.

Along with the band, a new Pride Celebration watch face and iOS wallpaper will be available to download. The watch face will show colourful shapes that will appear to circulate into the wrist, responding when the user raises or moves the wrist. The iPhone wallpaper features the same colourful geometric shapes on a white base and will dynamically move as the user unlocks their device.

The new Pride Celebration watch face and iPhone wallpaper will be available next week, and requires watchOS 9.5 and iOS 16.5.

Of course, this isn’t the first year Apple has joined in on the festivities… they have been releasing new Pride-themed watch bands and watch faces since 2017 to help celebrate Pride month.

The 2023 Pride Edition Sport Band will be available to order on apple.com and in the Apple Store App on May 23, and will be available at Apple Store locations across Canada beginning on May 24 for $59 (CAD).
