RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 Episode 13 Recap: Teacher Makeovers

The top five queens give drag makeovers to teachers to grow their drag dynasties and singer Hayley Kiyoko is a guest judge…

Last week the queens made their triumphant Rusical debut in Wigloose. While everybody absolutely showed UP for the musical, Anetra was named the winner of the week for putting her whole heart and soul into her character. Loosey and Salina were both in the bottom and after an emotional Kate Bush lip sync, Salina EsTitties was sent packing. This week the queens give makeovers to some Drag Race fans who are also hard working teachers. Let’s get into it!

This week’s episode begins in the werk room following Salina’s elimination. The queens gather around the mirror to read her goodbye message which is a little pointed and salty. Loosey says she knows exactly how she feels and says she was surprised to be in the bottom. Over on the couches Mistress says she gave a pageant answer on stage and is proud that she remains in her congenial area. Luxx stands by her four minute monologue on the runway and her comment that Loosey’s drag is generic. There are only a handful of them left and they’re in the home stretch, so it’s only going to get tougher from here.

It’s a new day in the werk room and the top five queens enter and stand around the table to talk about being so close to the top four. Ru enters to play a game with the girls for this week’s mini challenge. The queens will spill the tea with an extra special guest Norvina (from Anastasia Beverly Hills). Everybody takes turns answering superlative-type questions. The winner of the mini challenge is Loosey. Ru then tells the queens that for this week’s maxi challenge they will give sickening drag makeovers to five fearless educators. Since Loosey won the mini challenge she will get to choose her teacher first and then get to pair up the rest of the queens to their teachers. Everyone gets paired up and class is in session. Everyone gets to know their teachers and come up with a plan to bring their drag fantasies to life. Ru catches up with each pair and gets a little peek on their concepts for the runway. Before Ru leaves he lets everyone know that the teachers will need to lip sync for their lives and they take turns on the main stage rehearsing.

It’s elimination day and today’s maxi challenge will determine who makes it to the finale. A few of the queens talk to their teachers and find out a little more about their backgrounds and what they hope they can do to make the future a more accepting place. Out on the main stage Ru introduces this week’s panel of judges, Michelle, Ross, and this week’s extra special guest judge, singer (and Celebrity Drag Race alum) Hayley Kiyoko. The queens and their teachers make their way down the runway. Critiques start with Sasha and the judges love how connected her and Ferocity were on the runway and praise their family resemblance. Michelle thought that Loosey and Lala had good family resemblance but could have had more fun on stage, which Hayley disagrees with. Michelle says Mistress and Madame were a joy to watch and all of the judges agree they have a striking family resemblance. Ross tells Luxx she did a great job transforming Asia into Jennifer Coolidge drag but there wasn’t much family resemblance. Finally, the judges loved how Anetra and Elektra choreographed their runway and that their family resemblance was strong. Before they exit the runway Ru has the teacher queens lip sync for their lives to her song Champion.

After deliberations Ru announces that the winner of this week’s challenge is Anetra. Mistress and Sasha are both safe. This leaves Loosey and Luxx both up for elimination.

The two bottom queens lip sync for their lives to For The Girls by Hayley Kiyoko. Both of the queens want to be in the top four, so they are giving it their all, all over the stage. After the lip sync, Ru sends Luxx to the final four and Loosey LaDuca, LaHome.

Next week on Drag RaceThe final four compete in a music video challenge and only three of them will be going through to the grand finale.
