A trailer has dropped for the upcoming film Lazy Susan, in which Will & Grace star Sean Hayes dons a dress to play the title role. Heading off possible confusion (or controversy) over whether the Emmy-winning actor might be playing trans, the character is handily described in publicity materials as “a spectacularly unmotivated cisgender woman for whom doing nothing is exhausting.”

The film’s official synopsis tells us, “Susan has always been the self-centered oddball in her family, who lazily skated through life with their grudging support until one day she wakes up to realize she’s middle-aged with no job, no relationship, and an increasingly estranged family. She finally decides to take charge and turn things around, but never having done anything herself before, the struggle is real (and hilarious) as Susan becomes the woman she always wanted to be, all on her own.”

Matthew Broderick, Margo Martingale, Carrie Ailey, Darlene Hunt and Oscar-winner Allison Janney also star. Hayes co-wrote the film with with Aizley and Hunt, and Nick Peet serves as the film’s director.

Lazy Susan arrives on digital and in select theaters on April 3. You can watch the trailer below.
