Shake And Bake: Nude Vacationing In Palm Springs

“We are all about the freedom to be yourself once inside the resort courtyard”…

By Albert Blanco

Turning your buns golden brown in Palm Springs is easy. Clothing-optional resorts, hot springs and pools are plentiful. The desert is a magnet for the uninhibited but the king of the resorts serving all the queens is surely INNdulge. It’s where the gay social crowd stays to enjoy the salt water pool and the twelve-man jacuzzi.

We chatted with INNdulge owner, Jon Jackson.

When is the best time to visit a clothing optional resort?
All the time! The busiest season in Palm Springs is from February to May, but clothing optional resorts in Palm Springs are busy year-round because of the constant sunshine. July and August are particularly busy with European nudists.

What type of gay men are found at clothing optional resorts?
Every type. We get a diverse range of ages, ethnicities, and body types.

Does everyone just walk around nekkid?
No. It ebbs and flow, but it’s usually about half the guests that are comfortable nude. Nudity is merely an option.

Is there a time that clothes are required?
No.

Not even mealtimes?
No. We are all about the freedom to be yourself once inside the resort courtyard.

What’s there to do during the day?
Most guests relax by the pool during the day, but there is great hiking, shopping and site-seeing in the surrounding area.

And at night?
In the evening, guests generally attend our evening social hour before going to one of Palm Springs’ many amazing restaurants, followed by a night out on Arenas, our street of gay businesses and bars. In the summer months, our pool is filled with guests. There are often more people by the pool at midnight than at noon time.

Does nudity equate to more hanky panky or less?
Not more, not less.

Does nudity make men more social or less?
It seems to make them more social.

What is the most ordered cocktail at INNdulge?
Under California law, because nudity is an option at INNdulge, we are prohibited from having a license to sell liquor.  So guests are welcome to bring their own!

We don’t have to pay for booze?
Not us, at least. Most people come with vodka. We provide the mixers and light snacks.

Let’s talk money. How much is a night’s stay?
Our regular rates start from $199. But we have summer deals! For weekday stays Sunday to Thursday, our rates start at $119 (plus occupancy taxes).

What type of rooms do you offer?
We offer three room types, with an option of a pool view or without. We have a standard room, a larger room with a kitchenette and eating area, and we have a suites the size of a full apartment. All our rooms are exceptionally well appointed with modern furniture and comforts.

Is complimentary breakfast included?
Yes.  We offer pastries, cereals, breads, cheese, ham, yogurt, fruit, juices, coffee, tea. There is something for every diet!

What important necessities do you recommend guests pack for a nude vacation at INNdulge?
A smile and a social frame of mind.  Swimsuits, shorts and t-shirts are optional!
