Cher to release album of Abba covers following Mamma Mia! role…
She’s not quite done with ABBA yet! Cher has revealed that she has recorded an entire album of ABBA covers, following her appearance in the just released musical film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Speaking to the Today Show‘s Kathie Lee Gifford, the 72-year-old singer said: “After I did Fernando [in the film], I thought it would be fun to do an album of Abba songs, so I did! It’s not what you think of when you think ABBA, because I did it in a different way.”
Cher performs “Fernando” in the film alongside Andy Garcia, who plays hotel manager Fernando Cienfuegos.
The untitled ABBA cover album will be Cher’s first full album since 2013’s Closer to the Truth.
No more details are yet available about the project.
Cher plays Ruby Sheridan in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the mother of the first film’s protagonist Donna (Meryl Streep).
