Providing culturally safe, Indigenous-led access to Justice through Indigenous Justice Centres
The purpose of the Black Femme Legal toolkit is threefold: (1) to provide legal education and information; (2) to provide legal referrals and services; and (3) to provide non-legal resources and support to Black 2SLGBTQI+ workers across Ontario through a Black femme-centered approach, lens and praxis
Provides a non-judgmental, welcoming space where people of all attractions, identities and expressions can be themselves, find support, meet new people and be part of a caring community. Offers resources, volunteer opportunities, counselling, and sensitive and expert information and referrals for those seeking help. Also organizes programs to help improve the social, mental and physical health of 2SLGBTQI+ communities.
Offers short-term support to individuals in 2SLGBTQI+ communities who may be experiencing family violence. Helps clients navigate their risks and increase safety by directing them to appropriate legal assistance, exploring options for emergency shelters, and providing education around family violence and its impact.
Offers settlement support to 2SLGBTQI+ refugee claimants around navigating Canadian social systems and understanding the Immigration and Refugee Board process.
Lulu’s Lodge: John Howard Society Of Saskatchewan
Provides a five-bedroom supportive transitional home for 2SLGBTQI+ youth, 16 to 21 years of age, facing homelessness in Regina. Also provides a live-in mentor, guidance and support around education, physical health, mental wellness, family reunification, legal matters and advocacy.
A grassroots collective of folks who believe that two-spirit, non-binary people and transgender folks should speak for themselves and be seen as critical stakeholders in decisions made for their lives. Advocates for systemic change to improve the lives of Manitobans of all genders through outreach, education, and political and legal action.
An independent body that administers and enforces the Prince Edward Island Human Rights Act.
Part of the YWCA Canada movement, a leading voice for women, girls, two-spirit and gender-diverse people. Works to eliminate gender-based violence, build affordable housing and advocate for workplace equity.
Hamilton Community Legal Clinic: The Queer Justice Project
Offers legal services, education and system navigation to 2SLGBTQI+ communities in Hamilton. This is a francophone project that has an accompanying English component.
Helps 2SLGBTQI+ people around the world escape state-sponsored violence based on their sexual orientation, gender identity and sex characteristics.
