A snapshot of CANFAR’s recent Capital Legacy Project event that took place at the Metcalfe Hotel in downtown Ottawa…

Another amazing Capital Legacy Project event took place on Wednesday, November 8, at the Metcalfe Hotel in downtown Ottawa. Guests enjoyed incredible food and a delicious guava-gin welcome cocktail courtesy of the team at the Cocotte Bistro, all served in the swanky atmosphere of the Metcalfe’s lobby atrium. This powerful evening explored HIV’s impact on Indigenous communities in Canada, highlighting projects that support HIV testing, treatment and care for First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples.

Guest speakers Albert Beck from the Ontario Aboriginal HIV Aids Strategy (OAHAS) and Dr. Patrick O’Byrne from Getakit.ca gave in-depth talks about initiatives that are helping to end the HIV epidemic in Canada, and Ottawa’s favourite two-Spirit, Indigenous drag queen, Shea D. Ladie, closed out the event with a spectacular performance, bringing all of their trademark energy.
