Frank Ocean Wins 'Homophobic Slur' Libel Lawsuit Filed By His Father

Frank Ocean has won that $14.5 M homophobia libel lawsuit his own father brought against him…

Frank Ocean has won a libel lawsuit brought against him by his father.

The case centred around an emotional 2016 Tumblr post that the Blonde artist shared in response to the tragic shooting at at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, where he recalled an incident from his past where his father called a transgendered waitress a “faggot”.

“I was 6 years old when I heard my dad call our transgender waitress a faggot as he dragged me out of a neighborhood diner saying we wouldn’t be served because she was dirty,” Frank wrote. “That was the last afternoon I saw my father and the first time I heard that word, I think, although it wouldn’t shock me if it wasn’t.”

“Many are annoyed by our wanting to be married like everyone else or use the correct restroom like everyone else,” headed. “Many don’t see anything wrong with passing down the same old values that send thousands of kids into suicidal depression each year. So we say pride and we express love for who and what we are. Because who else will in earnest?”

Ocean’s estranged father, Calvin Casey, took issue with the claim and tried to sue his son for $14.5 million for defamation of character. He claimed that what was written in the Tumblr post would cost him “future financial opportunities.”

However, a judge has ruled in favour of Ocean this week.

“It was a super sad case,” Keith Bremer, Ocean’s attorney, said. “I am sorry that my client had to go through this and am glad that we could bring closure.” Cooksey lost the $14.5 million libel suit because he had “failed to prove his son had defamed him at all,” TMZ reported.
