There is an incredible history of HIV advocacy, activism, and art in Toronto. This World AIDS Day, hear first-person accounts from six Black women each sharing their creative responses to the HIV crisis.

Free tickets are available now for Voices for World AIDS Day: An evening of storytelling, presented by Gilead Sciences. The December 1 event will feature six trailblazers, including jazz musician Jackie Richardson and innovative health care leader Notisha Massaquoi. Each speaker has inspired change, and improved awareness, care and justice for people living with HIV. It promises to be a spectacular evening of storytelling in celebration of activists and artists who have made an indelible impact in communities across Canada.

Casey House is a hospital unlike any other. Located near the Village, this Toronto specialty hospital provides ground-breaking care for people living with and at risk of HIV. Through a combination of inpatient and outpatient services, the team of staff, peers and volunteers meet clients where they are in their individual journeys. “The humanity of each client is at the heart of everything we do,” says CEO Joanne Simons.

Voices for World AIDS Day: An evening of storytelling will take place Friday December 1, 2023 in the Bram and Bluma Appel Salon at the Toronto Reference Library, 789 Yonge St. The opening reception with cash bar starts at 6 p.m., while the storytelling will kick off at 7 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. Tickets are free and can be reserved at caseyhouse.ca/voices. It promises to be a powerful night of stories and music.
