Celebrating Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Communities

Tan France's New 'Queer Icons' Podcast Is Here To Educate & Entertain

A celebration of historical and modern-day LGBTQ+ icons from across the world…

To say that Queer Eye‘s Tan France is busy these days is an understatement: there’s baby-France on the way, a busy filming schedule for season six, as well as his other Netflix show, Next in Fashion, and the launch of a a new podcast. The new Audible original podcast is called Tan France’s Queer Icons, and it’s billed as a celebration of historical and modern-day LGBTQ+ icons from across the world.

Queer Icons has given me the opportunity to explore some truly inspirational individuals from all walks of life, and across the globe – from the worlds of fashion and music through to science and politics,” France said. “The LGBTQIA+ community undeniably wouldn’t be where it is today without these icons, so it’s a privilege to be bringing these previously untold stories to life through this powerful new series, an ultimate celebration of queer culture worldwide.”

Each episode in the eight-part podcast features France and various experts focusing on a different queer icon, from historic icons such as Princess Seraphina (an eighteenth-century gentleman’s servant, whose legacy is entwinned with Vauxhall’s gay culture) to icons such as Yoyo (a Kuala Lumpur based lesbian punk rocker, challenging her country’s homophobic laws today).

The podcast comes at the perfect time… Pride Month, like all months, is the perfect time to load up your listening devices with queer voices and stories. Tan France’s Queer Icons is available to download now on www.audible.ca/queericons. It is free for Audible members or with Audible’s 30-day trial.
