Celebrating Canada's 2SLGBTQI+ Communities

The 519's Annual Gala Is Going Virtual With Elton John, k.d. lang, Kim Cattrall & More

Canada’s largest LGBTQ2S community centre has put together a star-studded lineup for its upcoming online event…

The 519’s largest single-day fundraising event, The Annual Gala, is going virtual this year and will bring together a star-studded lineup that will include Sir Elton John, Margaret Atwood, k.d. lang, Patti LuPone, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Jann Arden, Alan Cumming, Barenaked Ladies, Kim Cattrall and more.

The star-studded Virtual Gala for The 519 will be streamed on Sunday, October 25, at 7:30pm (EST).

The 519 relies heavily on funds raised through such events and other philanthropy initiatives. “The cancellation of 2020’s Green Space Festival due to COVID-19 resulted in significant loss of operating revenue. The 2020 Annual Gala is an opportunity to support The 519 and its essential programs and services for the most marginalized members of the LGBTQ2S communities”, says Maura Lawless, Executive Director of The 519.

Musical performers for the streaming event include John Alcorn, Alan Cumming, Molly Johnson, k.d. lang, Patti LuPone, Billy Newton-Davis, Louise Pitre, Carole Pope, Jackie Richardson, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Lorraine Segato, Theo Tams and Ben Vereen.

The celebrity guest list of presenters includes Jann Arden, Margaret Atwood, Barenaked Ladies, Kim Cattrall, Atom Egoyan & Arsinée Khanjian, Norman Jewison, Elton John & David Furnish, John Greyson, and Stephen Andrews, Andrea Martin, Kent Moneyman, Rick Mercer, Ben Mulroney and more!

“This year’s gala will be more inclusive than ever since we won’t be confined to the space limitations of The 519 ballroom. Everyone is welcome and can pay what they can to attend the event,” says The 519’s Honorary Patron
Salah J. Bachir.

The 16th edition of The 519’s annual gala doubles as a 65th birthday party for patron Salah J. Bachir and will be hosted by former 519 chair Mathieu Chantelois.

Tickets for the gala range from $150 to as high as $25,000 for a VIP table. But there are also Pay What You Can options. For more information on how you can help support Toronto’s most vulnerable and marginalized LGBTQ2S community members or to get tickets click here!
