Converse Releases New Pride Collection, Which Includes Trans Flag Design

Because equal rights are for everyone…

Converse is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pride with a glitter-dipped Pride collection, filled with parade-worthy sneakers, and the brand’s first-ever trans flag design.

Following up on last year’s Pride capsule collection designed by Miley Cyrus, Converse’s 2019 Pride collection features apparel and accessories as well as loud and proud high and low-top versions of both the classic Chuck Taylor All Star and Chuck 70 silhouettes, all inspired by the rainbow Pride flag or the trans flag.

This is the first time Convese has release a trans-inspired sneaker, which consists of five horizontal stripes: two light blue, two pink, and one white in the center.

The 2019 lineup includes six different designs available in stores and online. There are three Chuck 70 silhouettes including: a black shimmering high top, a shimmering transgender flag-inspired high top, and a pair of Chuck 70 lows featuring a shimmering rainbow design. There are also three classic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouettes available in the collection: a white pair of Chuck Taylor All Star high tops featuring a bold lightning bolt and rainbow, a Chuck Taylor All Star high top with a bold lighting bolt inspired by the transgender flag, and a pair of white lows featuring tiny rainbow lightning bolts.

Each sneaker features Pride/trans flag lace tips, midsole bumper details, and “1969–2019” stamped onto the tongue to mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and a half-century of LGBTQIA+ liberation.

The 2019 Converse Pride collection is available now exclusively on converse.ca and at select retailers across the country.
