‘Drag Race’ Announces A New Franchise That Will Take The World Down Under

World of Wonder has announced a new vs. The World franchise hosted by Michelle Visage for Australia and New Zealand…

The drag world is heading down under. World of Wonder has officially announced a spin off of Drag Race Down Under coming to WOW Presents Plus worldwide and Stan in Australia. Drag Race Down Under vs. The World is the latest franchise to unite queens globally. RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Canada’s Drag Race all have ‘vs. The World’ franchises, while the Philippines and USA have similar formats with Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale (currently airing) and RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars.

The official synopsis teases the series will feature fan favourites going head-to-head for the ‘ultimate crown.’ Like its predecessors, it will pull from a pool of sickening global queens.

Michelle Visage, who took over hosting duties from RuPaul in season four of the original Down Under franchise, will host the spin off. Rhys Nicholson will return as a judge and reigning Drag Race Down Under queen Lazy Susan will also be at the table.

No premiere date has been announced, but fans might not be waiting too long for the next ‘vs. The World.’ RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs. The World is rumoured to have been shot and may premiere in early 2026.

The news of the spin off comes after MTV and Paramount Plus renewed RuPaul’s Drag Race and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars for season 18 and 11.

What has the reaction to Drag Race Down Under vs. The World been?

The comments section is exploding with fans and former Drag Race competitors sharing their excitement. Some queens may also be subtly suggesting that they are interested in competing in the new franchise.

Toronto drag brunch legend Miss Moço wrote “I’ve always wanted to take my brunch down under.” We hope this is her way of telling producers to call her. Though we think she should be pitching a Drag Race Portugal series to host.

Other queens who might be subtly expressing interest include Drag Race Holland competitor Sederginne who said “Wait what, Yes let’s go!” Canada’s Drag Race contestant Ilona Verley is another, writing “Omg this is my dream franchise.”

UK’s Kitty Scott Claus simply tagged Jujubee and Cheryl in the comments. Jujubee has appeared on four Drag Race series including the first season of Drag Race UK vs. The World. Cheryl, who has competed on two ‘vs. The World’ franchises replied to her UK sister with “I’m ready…”
