Willam Was Removed From DragCon 2024

Now Willam is speaking out saying that they were escorted out of the venue by 11 cops and security guards…

Social media has been buzzing with rumours that Willam had been removed from DragCon as the festivities kicked off on Friday. The official convention for Drag Race super fans took place Friday, July 19th and Saturday, July 20th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Social media was instantly a buzz after it was rumoured that the controversial queen was forced to leave the venue as queens from across the franchise began strutting their stuff during the iconic Queens Walk.

One of the first queens to confirm the drama was Nicole Paige Brooks, who competed on season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Brooke’s () witnessed all of the mayhem backstage and spilled the tea on everything leading up to her departure. She even joked that her and Tyra Sanchez are banned from the convention.

“Here’s some gossip for you. Willam was with me the whole time. As soon as Willam left my side, they let me right in,” Brooks told Pride Today host Ricky Cornish. “Was she the drama? Her and Tyra… there’s a notice at the door. Did you see their pictures at security?”

Brooks later elaborated in a separate interview that she even saw Willam get taken away by security.

“I got to see Willam back there, before they carted her off by security. Did she ever even make it to the carpet? Did she do the walk Because they tried to get her from backstage. It was quite shady. But anyway, I didn’t say that. I heard that as soon as she walked away. They let me back there.”

Social media users battled it out over the reasoning for Willam getting the boot, with most agreeing that World Of Wonder (the global multi-platform media company behind the Drag Race franchise) had allegedly kicked her out for talking about the allegations made against the show by the staff and the litigation that may be presented.

On Sunday afternoon Willam released a two-and-a-half minute to YouTube called Drag Con’d 2024 with behind-the-scenes video footage from DragCon. The video shows Willam (turning a lewk) approaching a RuPaul photo op, before announcing: “Kicked outta DragCon! Get ready with me… to go home.”

In the video Willam confirms that they were escorted out of the Los Angeles Convention Center by 11 cops and security guards, after being told that they are “a risk for the event.”

Willam also hit Instagram to elaborate on the incident saying: “They trailed me around the convention center and then waited til i went backstage for the Queens Walk to descend and encircle me so they wouldn’t be by the fans and cameras,” says Willam. “Sorry not sorry i aired your dirty laundry about the sexual harassment your union crew had to endure this past year and more details on that on @racechaserpod this week.”

Willam says they plan on revealing more on the entire incident in the coming week on the RaceChaser podcast.

No word from World of Wonder or RuPaul herself.
