North Bay Pride Is Looking To Crown ‘The Ontario Drag Performer’ At Pride 2023 Celebrations

Calling all drag performers!

North Bay Pride is reaching out across Ontario, looking to crown the Ontario Drag Performer during their Pride festivities in September 2023! Even better? There are prizes to be won!

“Drag performers have been experiencing a lot of hate and attacks on their performances even though this hate is clearly out of ignorance of what drag performers truly are. North Bay Pride feels that since drag has been around since William Shakespeare, it deserves to be recognized and celebrated across Ontario. Drag is an art, it is a performance, it can be done for families, it can be done for adults, each performer has always geared their performance to their audience,” said Jason Maclennan, Communications Director for North Bay Pride. “Hate Has No Home here in North Bay, and we are sharing our space with all drag performers from across Ontario.”

What till you see the list of judges; they will blow your mind! We are very excited to see this finally come together in 2023 and we cannot wait to host the entire drag community of Ontario in North Bay September 13 through 17, 2023!”

Performers who wish to compete need to submit their one minute video at unicornfeathercommunity@gmail.com, which will be posted at www.northbaypride.ca, where the public will be encouraged to vote. The six performers that receive the highest votes, will be brought to North Bay Pride to compete live on September 14, 2023.

You have until April 30, 2023, to get your entries in, or if you have questions about entering, just use the email above. The only condition to enter, is that you cannot have performed in your drag on TV reality show.

Finalists will be provided free travel by Ontario Northland and accommodations by The Hampton Inn – North Bay and will also be part of North Bay Pride Parade on September 16, 2023, on their very own float provided by North Bay Pride. First place will win $2,500 CAD!
