This Pride Month you can celebrate with an incredible night of entertainment, all in support of a good cause. Tickets are on sale now for Rainbow Railroad’s Freedom Party: A Celebration of LGBTQI+ Freedom in Toronto. The June 10 event is set to feature headline performances from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 finalist, Gottmik and Canada’s Drag Race season one winner, Priyanka.
The fundraising event will also feature performances by Toronto Kiki Ballroom Alliance and some of Toronto’s hottest drag talent as well as music courtesy of some of Toronto’s favourite DJ’s and special musical guests.
Rainbow Railroad is a Canadian-based human rights organization that has been supporting LGBTQ+ people at risk around the world since 2006. Their mission is to help persecuted LGBTQ+ people find new homes when it becomes unsafe for them to be themselves in their home countries. “Right now, in over 70 countries around the world there are laws that criminalize same sex intimacy and those laws and the persecution they bring sometimes puts lives at risk,” executive director Kimahli Powell previously shared with IN. Rainbow Railroad exists to help facilitate those lifechanging journeys for people seeking new homes where they will feel safe and supported. Powell says that while we are working towards the goal of having everyone live in countries where they are safe, sometimes being able to flee is the difference between life and death.
Rainbow Railroad’s Freedom Party: A Celebration of LGBTQI+ Freedom will take place on Friday June 10, 2022 at Ricardas Restaurant at 134 Peter Street in Toronto. A VIP reception and dinner will run from 7-9pm while the party will kick off at 8:30pm and run till late. Tickets for the open bar event cost $125 per ticket, which includes a tax receipt for maximum allowable amount. To buy tickets visit: eventbrite.ca.
