RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 14 Episode 10 Recap: Snatch Game

The remaining queens compete in one of the worst Snatch Games in the show’s herstory, and a lip sync bomb is dropped on the bottom queens…

Last week Jorgeous and Jasmine Kennedie found themselves in the bottom two after disappointing the judges in the DragCon panel maxi challenge. However, the two bottom queens didn’t disappoint during the lip sync because neither of them got eliminated. So, we still have eight remaining queens heading into this week’s prestigious maxi challenge. It’s time for the SNATCH GAME!!! This is the challenge that can make or break the rest of the competition for a queen. So, let’s see who knocks it out of the park, and whose performance gets the cricket sound effects dubbed over it.

This week’s episode starts in the werk room following the double save. Jasmine and Jorgeous lead the group in. Over on the couches the queens congratulate them on their incredible lip sync. Betty is annoyed that there’s still eight queens left and tells the group the lip sync “wasn’t that good”. BITTER. Angeria leads the group on congratulating Bosco on her win. Deja breaks down in tears in confessionals after still not getting a win after getting really close.

It’s a new day in the werk room and the remaining eight gather around the table. Ru’s video cuts Jasmine off, and Ru enters the werk room to present this week’s mini challenge. The queens will need to create lewks with bubble wrap. Unsurprisingly, this is a sparkling water sponsored challenge, and the queens get to work creating their gowns. After displaying their fresh looks on a red carpet, Ru announces the winner of the mini challenge is Bosco serving us Aquaria’s entrance look (but plastic).

Following the mini challenge, Ru tells the queens that it’s finally time to play… SNATCH GAME!!! The pressure is on. The queens get to work prepping their celebrity lewks.  Ru comes in to check on the queens. Jorgeous will be playing Ilana from Broad City, Daya Betty is Ozzy Osbourne, Angeria is playing iconic drag queen Tammie Brown, Jasmine is Betsy DeVos, Deja is Lil Jon, and Lady Camden is performing as a dragged-out William Shakespeare.

It’s finally time to play Snatch Game! Tonight’s contestants are Raven, and singer/actress Dove Cameron. And we’re off! Willow is taking on child actress turned adult actress turned daytime talk show host Drew Barrymore. Deja’s Lil Jon is hilarious, Bosco is playing the CEO of vagina scented candles, Gwyneth Paltrow. Throughout the game everybody’s performances kind of fall flat except for Deja who is the only one making Ru laugh. It’s certainly one of the roughest Snatch Games to watch in recent franchise herstory.

It’s elimination day, and most of the queens are disappointed in their performance, and they all think they’ll be in the bottom. Out on the main stage Ru introduces this week’s judges Michelle, Carson, and the extra special guest Dove Cameron. On the runway the category is “Holy Couture”, and the queens strut in religious-inspired lewks, or looks inspired by what they worship (which includes mushrooms, astrology, weed, and the Spice Girls).

Following the runway all of the queens will all be getting critiques, but before they do Michelle tells them she’s disappointed in the Snatch Game, and she will be conducting a thorough investigation into what went wrong. Deja is up first, and Michelle tells her she was the only one who popped in the challenge, and Dove loved her Joan of Arc runway. Michelle says Jasmine got too lost in the character and didn’t really get any laughs. Ru is living for Angeria’s church lady look, but Michelle says she kept her Tammie Brown one-note. The investigation continues with Willow Pill. Michelle was excited that she had the mannerisms down, but says the performance was boring, but the judges love her magic mushroom look. Carson says Daya’s Ozzy didn’t go far enough, and Michelle wishes her dress was shorter. The judges liked Jorgeous’s look, but says Ilana Glazer was missing from her performance as Ilana Glazer. The judges agree that Lady Camden’s Spice Girls looked like a Halloween costume from 1999, and her William Shakespeare was lacking something. Finally, the judges love Bosco’s saucy nun runway look, but her Gwyneth fell really flat. Michelle concludes her investigation, and I am not feeling good that there’s a clear bottom two. It’s looking like this might be a seven-way lip sync.

Following the judge’s deliberations Ru announces that Deja Sky is the winner of this week’s challenge (very well-deserved IMO). Ru also confirms my suspicions and announces that the remaining seven queens are all up for elimination. They will all lip sync for their lives… but not tonight. The lip sync smackdown LaLaPaRuza will take place in next week’s episode. No queen (except for Deja) is safe.

Next week on Drag Race: The queens get down to business in the lip sync smackdown for THEIR LIVES.
