Supporting Equality For The LGBTQ2+ Community, One Round At A Time

Introducing TD’s first-ever, half-ounce Forever Proud Silver Round…

Pride celebrates self-affirmation, equality, dignity, and increased visibility for members of the LGBTQ2+ community. With a rich history that spans decades, Canadian Pride celebrations continue to grow each year, educating younger generations about the progressive journey for equality.

But Pride is not just an annual event – the spirit of Pride is celebrated and honoured year-round. As a longstanding supporter of diversity and inclusion, TD is always looking for ways to be an ally to the LGBTQ2+ community. From developing new programs in support of LGBTQ2+ employees to contributing to LGBTQ2+ initiatives including acting as a Platinum sponsor for WorldPride 2019, TD continues to embrace the journey and learn new things along the way.

With its first-ever, half-ounce Forever Proud Silver Round, TD aims to help Canadians celebrate the spirit of Pride all year-round and share a piece of history with future generations. Made from 99.9% pure silver, the commemorative round features a colourized design of the Pride rainbow encircling the English and French inscription of “Forever Proud.” The Forever Proud Silver Round is a keepsake symbolizing the progress that has been made, the journey that remains and the knowledge that we can all continue to help make a difference and work towards a more inclusive society.

“At TD, diversity and inclusion are embedded in our DNA by genuinely supporting our customers, colleagues and communities where we live, work and play,” says Al Ramsay, Associate Vice President, LGBTQ2+ and Black Customer Segments at TD. “The Forever Proud Silver Round is a celebration of Pride in our efforts to help create a more inclusive society.”

Commemorative coins like the TD Forever Proud Silver Round are meant to celebrate cultural and historical milestones. Every day, new strides are being made for the LGBTQ2+ community, and TD is proud to be included in this journey. TD has been committed to doing its part for decades— they were the first bank in Canada to introduce same-sex spousal employee benefits in 1994, and to offer gender affirmation surgery support to employees and their families in 2008. And now, TD is proud to continue its supportive efforts by donating the net proceeds from sales of the round to help programs that support LGBTQ2+ people in need.

TD will be donating 100% of the net proceeds from sales of the piece to Rainbow Railroad, a Canadian charitable organization that helps lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals escape violence and persecution in their home countries around the world. From assisting in relocation efforts for LGBTQ2+ individuals who are facing police harassment, family violence, employment discrimination and forced conversion therapy, to providing support and networks for activists, Rainbow Railroad is helping to make a difference in the lives of LGBTQ2+ people all over the world.

“TD’s commitment to the LGBTQ2+ community is long-standing, and as Rainbow Railroad’s lead corporate sponsor, TD is a natural fit to support its work through the Forever Proud Silver Round,” says Ramsay. Since it was founded, Rainbow Road has helped over 1,600 LGBTQ2+ individuals find safety through emergency relocation and other forms of assistance.

Each round is delivered in its own protective packaging and is priced at CDN$35.95[1] for TD customers and $37.03 for non-TD customers. Whether you’re a collector yourself or are looking for a thoughtful gift for an ally or member of the LGBTQ2+ community, the half-ounce TD Forever Proud Silver Round is a unique keepsake symbolizing the celebration of Pride.
