Watch The Trailer For The New Netflix Documentary 'Circus Of Books'

The new doc takes a look at the landmark gay bookstore…

Netflix has just released the trailer for Circus of Books, a documentary about the legendary family-run gay adult shop in West Hollywood of the same name.

Circus of Books was a family-run business started by a straight married couple that helped provide a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community during an era where society was far less inclusive than today.

Director Rachel Mason assembled the film as a family memoir; her parents owned the store for 35 years until it closed in 2019. The film features extensive archival footage, as well as in-depth interviews with Karen & Barry Mason, Rachel’s parents, her siblings, as well as former store employees, including future RuPaul’s Drag Race star Alaska Thunderf*ck.

“I think what we did is small human kindnesses in a very small way,” Karen said downplaying their part.
