The Queen Sugar and True Blood star just came out—and got engaged…
True Blood’s Rutina Wesley has come out in a series of Instagram posts. The actress – who played Sookie Stackhouse’s (Anna Paquin) best friend Tara on the HBO drama – has told fans that she’s now engaged to her partner Shonda.
Wesley has been slowly revealing the relationship with the New Orleans-based Chef on Instagram. Over the weekend, the actress uploaded a gallery of pictures of them both, which finished with a photo of a hand bearing an engagement ring. It was accompanied with a “I said yes” hashtag, along with “she feeds my soul” and “love of my life you are my friend”
The 38-year-old was previously married to actor Jacob Fishel from 2005 to 2013.
Since True Blood, Wesley has gone on to appear on Arrow, Hannibal, and The Cleveland Show. She also plays a queer role on the OWN series Queen Sugar — a journalist and activist named Nova Bordelon.
