Virtual Pride Events Happening This Week: June 8-14

How to virtually celebrate Pride this week…

COVID-19 may have put a halt on IRL Pride 2020 celebrations, but that doesn’t mean Pride is cancelled. “Live stream” is the key word this year as tons of virtual Pride information sessions and celebrations go online.

Here are all the virtual events being held in Canada this week (June 8-14, 2020) across the country—and keep checking back, because we’ll be putting out a new list of virtual Pride events every single week!

LGBT2Q+ Trivia

Train with Team Canada

Lunch & Learn with Tensile Brown

THE LOW-DOWN: Hosted by Tenniel Brown of the Centre of Anti-Oppressive Communication; Four Online 45min engaging and informative training sessions with completion certificates.
* This week’s topic: Anti-Oppressive Communication. This week, participants will experience safety, healing and community. Specific information will also be provided about the benefits of an anti-oppressive approach to communication in creating an LGBT2Q+ friendly work environment.

Fruit Loop Pride At Home

THE LOW-DOWN: Edmonton’s Fruit Loop Society is moving their annual Pride celebration online. Performers including Cedar Wildcat, Duke Carson and Beau Creep will be livestreamed from The Starlite Room, and the event will be in support of the Edmonton 2 Spirit Society.

The Vicarious Show

The biggest middle eastern LGBTQ+ inclusive party in Canada. Expect an amazing belly dancing performances and more by KeroPatra and music by various artists from the Middle East. THE LOW-DOWN: Local legend DJ Sumation blesses us with a high-energy one-hour Pride set to lift our spirits! New Ho Queen

THE LOW-DOWN: New Ho Queen is a Toronto-based art collective aiming to celebrate and uplift queer Asians and queer people of colour. Since its inception in early 2018, New Ho Queen has been redefining and challenging what Toronto nightlife spaces look like by creating celebratory and artful spaces designed to centre the queer Asian diaspora, but welcome all QTBIPOC equally. Though in its infancy, New Ho Queen has already been recognized as an important fixture in Toronto’s queer community, collaborating with countless performers, DJs, artists, designers and photographers, and taking over institutional spaces like the Royal Ontario Museum and Gardiner Museum. When you arrive at a New Ho Queen party, you can expect to be immersed in a visual experience, witness a range of performances that celebrate intersectional narratives, and dance all night long to music by talented in-house and guest DJs. With the intention to uplift the community, New Ho Queen continues to be a positive force in the lives of the queer Asian diaspora, both as a platform for artistic growth and an important space for healing.
