Dragula Will Be The First U.S. Reality TV Competition To Feature A Drag King & AFAB Drag Artist
The third season of The Boulet Brothers Dragula promises to serve up a deadly dose of horror, glamour, filth and drag…
The Boulet Brothers Dragula will make history later this month when it will become the first U.S. reality drag competition aired on television to feature both a drag king and a AFAB (assigned-female-at-birth) performer. “Glamdrogynous King” Landon Cider and biological female drag artist Hollow Eve will both compete on the third season of the hit underground show, which debuts later this month on OUTtv in Canada.
“I am a proud cis woman, lesbian and drag king. AFAB drag performers share the same length of history with queens, fill our communities with incredible artistry, and I am honored to be just one in an infinite sea of talent,” Cider told The Advocate. “Hollow and I are shattering glass ceilings. So grab a shard, AFABs, cause we’re all coming for blood!”
Cider is following in the footsteps of Hugo Grrrl, a drag king who bested eight queens to win the New Zealand reality show House of Drag back in 2018. The YouTube series Camp Wannakiki also features a drag king, Boris Tudeth.
Yet another first for this season, modern day horror hosts the Boulet Brothers will also welcome Yovska, the first Canadian drag artist to take part in the competition.
This season, the 11 monsters competing for the title of Dragula: The Next Drag Super Monster and a cash prize of $25,000.
